Breech presentation in pregnancy is when the buttocks or feet of the baby are down by the cervix, or bottom of the uterus. This occurs in about 4% of pregnancies. It is standard of care to not deliver a breech baby vaginally. Many women are told they have to have a cesarean delivery.

However, there is a procedure called ECV or external cephalic version. It is not offered by all Obstetricians, but we will do it for you if you meet the accepted criteria. You can then go back to your Obstetrician for a vaginal delivery.
ECV involves providing you with an epidural, given you a shot of Terbutaline to relax the uterus, then positioning you while gently manipulating your uterus to get it to flip so the head is down or in vertex presentation.
